How my coaching Works
For the past 21 years I have helped hundreds of runners achieve their dreams, using the Recovery Based Training System I have developed. I ran my first ultra-marathon in 1977 as a 15-year-old and have run 258 marathons and ultras on road and trail, including 10 Comrades marathons with a 6.38 PB, and my fascination with running continues. I am based in Midrand, South Africa, and coach runners in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, England, America, Dubai, Netherlands, Namibia, United Arab Emirates and Canada.
Road & Trail Training
I do online coaching for road and trail, using the Final Surge training app, which integrates training programmes, monitoring performance and communication. This is backed up by whatsapp, email and Skype.
Dullstroom High-Altitude Training
Each year I organise the popular high-altitude training run at Dullstroom in March. This training weekend is exclusively for my runners and their families. I also travel to road races such as the Vaal marathon, Comrades marathon and Kaapsehoop marathon to help my runners.
Who is my training for?
Many of my runners are mid-field and back-of-the-pack runners seeking to complete their own goals, be it going from zero to finishing a 5km park run; or to tackling their first Skyrun or Comrades under the cut-off time, while 6 runners I have coached have represented South Africa at World Champs on road and trail. I coach runners in eight countries.
